Traffic Safety

TRAFFIC SAFETY is EVERYONE'S responsibility- whether you're on a bike, scooter, skateboard or walking on the sidewalk- or driving in a car with your friends or family.  We ALL must make good decisions on the road, or we risk hurting ourselves or others- or worse.  This month we will be looking at Traffic Safety in Health and Wellness classes to raise awareness and remind everyone of the rules of the road.  Drive safely, don't distract the driver, and obey pedestrian rules as well.

November 20th is National Day of Rememberance of Traffic Accident Victims.  Please take the time to support families who have been affected by traffic accidents, or, if you have been a victim yourself, take the time to get help.  Below are some links, videos etc., of the material we'll be covering in class.  Please see the wall board by 2º ESO for more information and the Community Health Mini Yellow Pages Book Created by students in 3º ESO for information on getting help.

It's up to us to make our roads safer for EVERYONE!  Do your part! (Or help your parents do theirs!)
1.  BUCKLE UP!
2.  Keep your hands on the wheel- no changing CDs, answering phones, smoking...
3.  Stay alert.  Stop if you're tired.
4.  Give yourself space- the driver in front of you might have to stop short.
5.  Obey the speed limit
6.  YEILD- when in doubt, let other drivers go first.
7.  Check your mirrors, be aware of your blind spot
8.  Have your car serviced regularly.
9.  Share the road.  Don't be an agressive driver
10.  Never drink and drive.  NEVER.
